Who We Are

The Nigeria Marine Coastguard Volunteer Service, as a Seaborne Regimented Para-military Lifesaving Formation has her Motto, Ethos and Core Values:- Motto of the Nigeria Marine Coastguard Volunteer Service,

 “Acta non Verbal, Semper Paratus,” that is, “Action not Words, Always Ready”

as a Seaborne Rescue Formation, is very important to our operation. Ethos of Nigeria Marine Coastguard Volunteer Service, “I serve the people of Nigeria. I will professionally, as Seaborne Personnel protect the Coastal and Riverine environment and Lives, I will defend and develop her and I will save her people”. Core values of The Nigeria Marine Coastguard Volunteer Service, “Our service and strength are defined by our Core Values of Honour, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. Integrity is our standard.

 

National Assignment

(1) Combating drowning in Nigeria.

(2) Flood emergency preparedness and SAR response operation as first responders.

(3) Maritime transportation and marine tourism safety development in conjunction with stakeholders, coastguard volunteer service rescue swimmers/ lifeguard.

(4) Marine craft and boat building project.

(5) Seminars and Symposium on water safety usage in coastal and riverine state.

(6) Marine safety research, report and recommendation for implementation.

(7) Marine Accident investigation and gathering; security information for federal law enforcement and security agencies.

(8) Operate rescue fleets.
